This year's Iowa Children's Choice Award winner is
Stolen Children by Peg Kehret
Selection criteria for the ICCA:
Books chosen for the master list are those written by
American authors within the last five years. Titles are
fiction or nonfiction, with a wide range of interests and
reading levels appropriate for children in grades three
through six. No textbooks are included.
This year's Goldfinch award winner is I Feel a Foot by Maranke Rinck
Selection criteria for the ICCA:
The Iowa Association of School Librarians has added the Goldfinch Award as an award
given by PreK-3rd grade students in the state of Iowa. In the past the Iowa Children¹s
Choice Award, Iowa Teen Award, and Iowa High School Book Award have been very popular.
This award extends what is already being done by the IASL to encourage children to read
more quality books, provide a positive dialogue about books, and give recognition to those
who write books for children.
Books are added to the list from student nominations and reviewed by Goldfinch Award committee members.
